Lily sat down at the Gryffindor table. She was just picking at her breakfast. She was to nervous to eat really. She was expecting that surprise from her parents any minute. What if Hugo was right and it was a Howler. Oh she would never be able to live with her life if it was. She wanted to run to the girls bathroom where moaning Murtle hung around and cry. At least no one would bother her there. If it where for her nervousness she would be excited that they where serving her favorite breakfast. Stuffed French Toast. It was stuffed with cream cheese and chunks of strawberry's with a strawberry sauce poured on top.

James was in one of those moods. One of those moods he often happened to be in early in the morning and it was usually a slightly insane one where he found everything hysterical. As it happened he practically skipped into the Great Hall and stood at the door a moment surveying the situation without actually seeing anything simply because he was far from paying attention to what was going on. Hence, he stood there for about three minutes before finally reacting to something he had spotted, or rather, someone. "LILY!" He shouted.
Bounding down the lengths of the tables to the Gryffindor table was certainly something he didn't think he would do no matter how much he liked food but he was even more excited to spot his sister. She was, perhaps, his only family member that he didn't annoy simply because he didn't try to do so. Her attitude was simply too cheerful to upset and it would hardly do to upset his only sister. He had enough brothers what with Teddy being practically a brother. Actually, that was a lie, he loved his brothers too he just annoyed them a lot more... But Lily was always pretty easy to get along with. He wasn't sure why but he rarely annoyed her if he could help it.
He stopped beside her and jumped up onto the seat before dropping down next to her. "Ooh... Yum, can I have some?" He asked, grabbing a fork and reaching out to take her food. James didn't even notice that there was a whole pile of French Toast sitting before him but, at the moment, his mind could only really focus on one thing and that just so happened to be Lily. And she had food. Food that he wanted. He stopped and looked at his sister, noticing for the first time that she had not eaten anything. Was it not her favourite food? He frowned concentrating for a moment.
"Lily... Who do I need to hex now?" He asked with some seriousness.

Lily looked up when she heard her brother scream her name. She didn't know why but James always seemed to make her laugh or smile. She loved her brother and would do anything for him. When he sat down with a thump beside her and asked for her food she gently pushed the plate over to him. She didn't mind at all. If she got hungry she could just grab another plate. "Morning James and sure help yourself."After a moment she watched as he realized something was wrong with her. "No, no nothing like that. Me and Hugo where in the owlery last night when I got a letter from mum and dad. It said that i would get a surprise this morning. Which I was actually excited about at first. That was until Hugo suggested that it might be a Howler." She shuttered at the thought. "What if he is right. What if it is a howler. I'll be laughed at and taunted by everyone."
Lily looked at James hopping he could cheer her up something. She knew James would try his hardest to cheer her up and that was what she loved about him so much. He never teased her if he could help it. Though she wouldn't mind if he did from time to time. It might make Albus feel a little better. Knowing that he wasn't the only one James teased and made fun of.

James grinned somewhat maniacally and began eating the food slower than he normally would as Lily began telling him why she was upset. Hugo. Ah, he would have to have a word to that one. Being one of the oldest members of the Weasley/Potter clan at the school he had something of a presence with them. Well, not really, it was more the fact that they all thought he was insane and kept away from him. Not even that. He didn't know what it was. Regardless, he would have a chat to Hugo. It would probably be a few words and then they would wind up grabbing a chess set to play a game in the corridor. James wasn't one for getting into aggressive situations if they could be avoided.
"Lily, Lily, Lily. Dear sweet Lily." He sighed, shaking his head dramatically, "Were you the one to slip the librarian the sleeping potion the other day, I could have sworn it was someone else. A male... He looked oddly like me actually. Seriously, what have you been doing? If Mum and Dad are sending you a Howler I hope that the owl carrying my billion is lost in a storm somewhere."
He stared at the meal before him for a moment thinking about what would happen if he received a billion howlers. He let out a laugh before quickly stifling it. "Ah... I'd go deaf for sure!"
He turned his attention back to Lily, "Did you steal all the mattresses from home and make a fort out of them?"

Lily watched as James began to eat rather slowly for his usual eating habits. She had a feeling James would talk with Hugo lately. Hopefully he didn't get to angry with him. Once Hugo realized he had upset her he had apologized. "No I didn't slip anything to the Librarian. I would never do something like that. And yes I figured it had bean you." A true smile spread across her face. A small giggle escaped Lily. It was true James was always getting into trouble she was allot like what there grandpa was like. Or so that is what there dad had told them. She loved both her brothers. But she was closer to James than she was to Albus. "Yes you most certainly would go death. We wouldn't want that to happen. And no I haven't done that since I was six," she giggled. "I can not think of anything that i did that would call for a Howler. I think Hugo said that just because he wishes to see one. Maybe he should do something bad and get one himself."

Hugo yawned rather obnoxiously as he staggered into the Great Hall. He hated mornings and wished he was back at home so he could sleep through noon. If there wasn't such a large stretch of time between breakfast and lunch, he would have gladly slept through breakfast. He would never make it through the morning classes on an empty stomach though, he knew that from experience. There was nothing worse than being hungry and not being able to do anything about it. There was another reason he decided not to skip breakfast that morning, Lily. She was supposed to be getting her howler and he wanted to be first in line to see the show. Not that he was planning on rubbing it in her face or anything of the sort, he just wanted to SEE it. It was his only motivation for waking up. As he neared the Gryffindor table, he realized Lily was not alone. Now Hugo wasn't the type to speak ill of family, but out of all the cousins, James was his least favorite. His sole purpose in life was annoying the piss out of people and Hugo had been on the receiving end of what James considered humorous many times. He wasn't particular mean to Hugo, but his little pranks were not appreciated. Hugo avoided him as much as possible. "Hi Lily, hope I'm not interrupting anything.." He squeezed into the space between the two and slide in. "Hey James.." he mumbled, while helping himself to whatever happened to be within reach. He remained silent as he ate, hoping James would suddenly remember he had last minute homework to do. (I feel left out of the [-center][/center] party )

Dominique grunted and staggered into the Great Hall. She was up unusually early, normally she only appeared right before the start of class to grab a piece of toast and a cup of tea, and keep moving. She rubbed her eyes and looked around and was confused. What happened to the tables? It seemed like there were no longer Hufflepuff/Slytherin/etc tables, but one big table of Weasley/Potters, and the rest of them were all whatever. She wanted to slap all of her younger relatives, they were setting a bad example. Not that she cared about segregation, but rules were rules, and the last thing she needed was to be pulled aside by some Head of House and lectured about letting them go astray...like she actually gave a crap or something. She was approaching, still not her usual cheerful self, and poked Hugo from behind. He tended to get a little lost in the crowd, being more sensitive than the rest, and for some odd reason she felt more protective of him than she would feel normally. Maybe because he seemed to need it most? Or because he just had those cute puppy dog eyes? Whatever the reason, she wasn't going to question it too closely, it made her uncomfortable. "Shove over, shrimps," she barked, and began shoving James and the others on his side over without waiting for them to respond. If she did, she'd be there all day, and anyway she had to remind them who was in charge. She grabbed one of the steaming platters and shoveled some egg on her plate, and put some more oh Hugo's. He'd never get tall and strong if he didn't get more protein. She looked around the others, and something on Lily's face caught her attention. Ah, trouble at home? She smirked and took a huge bite of her toast, crunching loudly, waiting for a hint of what was going on. (I'm right there with ya, sugar )

James was about to reply to what Lily had said when Hugo joined them. He had always loved Hugo. Heck, he'd always loved every one of his cousins. Unfortunately, the feeling wasn't always mutual. James just happened to have poor genetics. The genetics of quite a few troublemakers as well as the namesake of another. This was not what he thought, however, when Hugo appeared. What he really thought was 'I wonder whether fake howlers would be a fun trick to play on a few of the teachers.' Curses to Hugo for thinking of it first.
"Hugo my dear boy!" He called, greeting his cousin cheerfully, "How marvelous to see you this morning. Come down for the show have we? I know, I know, Howlers are wonderfully amusing but we're hoping that mine were caught in a storm or we might all go deaf-" He was cut off instantly by someone as she dropped into the seat beside him. Dom. Oh dear. She was perhaps one of the few family members who actually frightened him a little. He would never admit it but here she was now.
"Wonderful! Inter-house tables! I like your thinking a lot. My, my you two seem to be coming up with some brilliant ideas lately. How I envy you."
Ironically, his tone of voice was entirely honest and sincere the grin on his face perhaps the dead giveaway for his happiness. Despite the fact that there were so many of them it was, actually, quite difficult to run into his family members. More importantly, he was fairly certain some of them avoided him rather directly. It would certainly explain why he only ever saw his siblings and none of his cousins. He wasn't that bad was he? No. He was awesome. It was just tough to see under all his... eccentricities.

Lily was watching James when she spotted Hugo. And he was heading right for her. What was he doing. He was a Hufflepuff not a Gryffindor. He he shoved himself in between James and her she wanted to scream. She was having a conversation with her brother. Could he be more rude? But she kept her cool no matter how much she felt like screaming at Hugo. And to make it worse. She now saw Dominique out of the corner of her eye heading towards them now. Oh no. Now everyone was going to witness whether it was a Howler or not. Hugo seemed to be positive that it was a Howler. She berried her face in her hands trying not to cry. She couldn't stand Dominique. She was always bossing them around. Oh how she hated her sometimes. But she would never tell her that to her face. She would be dead if she did. Just as she was about to speak the sound of owl's hooting and the flapping of wings told her the mail was here. She moaned softly as the owls flew above there heads and flew to there master's to give them there mail and goodies from home. She lifted her head from her hands and looked up expecting a Howler or something. She spotted ice and two other owls carrying a large package. She sighed with relief it wasn't a Howler. The three owls landed on the table dropping the package. ice took a bit of the bacon on James plate before flying off. The two other owls a tawny and great horned took off as soon as they dropped the package. The grabbed the note on the package and opened it up. As soon as she opened it it began to sing Happy Birthday to her. She began to laugh and she felt relieved. She had bean so stressed out she had forgotten today was her birthday. Opening the package she found a package of Chocolate Frogs, every flavored beans, licorice wands and. "A BROOM," she squealed excitedly. "It's a Firebolt360 the newest broom it just came out yesterday."

The expression on Lily's face should have been indication enough that she did not want Hugo to be there, but poor Hugo was never good at picking up on social cues. His appearance shouldn't have been too much of a burden to her anyway since she was so gung-ho about having breakfast with him, Rose, and Scorpius that day at the owlery. He bit into his sausage and quietly munched away as James began going on about howlers. He was going to ask how many James had received in all his years as a student, but his thoughts were directed elsewhere upon the arrival of Dominique.
He was quite relieved, actually. Now that Dom was around, James would be less inclined to do anything weird. Dominique wasn't anything like her sister, Victoire. She could be a bit abrasive at times and was overall downright scary, but Hugo liked her. His opinion of her wasn't exactly shared by the others. While most of the Potter/Weasely clan had at least one other person they stuck to like glue, Dom was a loner. Although he enjoyed her company, Hugo knew she wasn't the type to want an annoying younger cousin following her around everywhere, so as a result he tended not to cling to her as much as he could have.
Again, Lily's face should have been a dead give away as to how she felt about the new additions to the table, but Hugo was clueless. He made as much space as he could for Dominique and managed a shy smile when she loaded his plate with more food. It was then that the owls finally arrived and much to Hugo's disappointment, it was just a bloody broom and some sweets, not a howler. "Wow, I didn't know it was your birthday!" Apparently, neither did anyone else. "Happy birthday, Lily." he patted her on the back happily and reached over to touch her new broom. His dad bought him a broom over the summer, but it looked more like something that had fallen from one of the trees out in the backyard.

Dominique managed to spare James a sidelong glance which did not bode well for him. His sugary sweet sincere bs didn't fool her for a second, thought it did wonders with their grandparents. She almost wished he'd continue talking, just give her an excuse already. Her attention focused back on Lily now, just for kicks. She already knew the younger girl's opinion of her, and grinned wickedly, chomping off a large piece of toast and crunching it loudly, spraying crumbs in front of her. Dad and Uncle Charlie used to take her with the boys to see old time pirate movies, and after that every year she'd beg for gold teeth as her baby teeth fell out one by one. She wished for that again now, it would only make her grin look more frightening, though given the general reaction to it as it was, it didn't need much. Of course she knew Lily had gotten a broom for her birthday, her dad had been talking in the fireplace with Aunt Ginny about it the last time she had gone home for the weekend, over Thanksgiving. Though Lily looked kind of nervous when the owls started arriving...why? Had precious little innocent Lily gone and done some nefarious deed yet undiscovered? She needed to stop watching those damned pirate movies.

Scorpius stared at the table and tried not to look so unsure. He tried to look like the epitome of confidence, self assuredness and upright citizenship. He had no idea how retarded he looked, He gritted his teeth and slid in across from Rose, displacing some younger kids, without a word. He knew he was going to get called on the carpet for this by his housemates later, hence the hesitation, but he tried to look like he didn't care. The more confident he appeared the less vulnerable he would be. He nodded at everyone and glared daggers at Lily and the others close to her age, as if daring them to challenge his sitting there. He smiled at Rose and cleared his throat, suddenly suffering from a dry throat. "Pass the scones?"

Rose had been too busy studying to notice what was going on or even be noticed. It had become second nature for her to sit at the gryffindor table with the rest of her family. It was easier that way. Having Hugo sit with her at the Ravenclaw table ended up with a bunch of brats trying to make him feel bad for being a Hufflepuff. If she sat at the Hufflepuff table with Hugo then she was bombarded with annoying questions about the tests or homework. Gryffindor table was a much more relaxing place she had determined. Atleast.. it used to be. Rose glared at the blonde haired boy that sat across from her. Malfoy.
"we're out" she added flatly, not even looking at the full basket of scones that lay beside her. "Maybe theres still some left at the Slytherin table?"

Between Rose's snottiness and the general attitude at the table he had enough and he hadn't even been there a minute. He got up and towered over Rose, struggling to find the words, but he was too annoyed to think about it. "You know what Rose? I think I will go to the Slytherin table. Clearly asking anyone here for anything is a waste of time" He snatched up the scones, since they were apparently non existent, and dropped them off at the Ravenclaw table on his way back to his own.
He knew it. All that talk about houses sitting together, was a bunch of bs after all.

With all that was going on at the table James tuned out for a moment after attempting to prevent the owl from grabbing some of his bacon. It took him a while to register that it was his sister's birthday. Oh, he had something for her, he always bought something at the beginning of the term for most of his family members. It was just a poor effort that he had forgotten about his own sister's birthday. He'd have to make up for it as soon as possible.
"Umm... I have to go and... find..." He trailed off and then jumped up from the seat, nodding slightly to the new arrivals as he passed. "Morning Rose, Scorpious."
By the time he was out of the Great Hall he finally realised the oddity of what had just occurred. He didn't mind really, he loved oddities really... It just meant that it was rather... Different... Oh well. He bolted up the stairs beelining for his dormitory. He'd have to catch up with her later and give her the gift when there weren't nearly as many people around. It would hardly do well to actually admit he had forgotten about his sister's birthday... Well, not technically... But it would all be better soon.
