It was not often that one spotted James Potter doing anything other than look suspicious and somewhat guilty and this was no exceptional day. Actually, James' guilty look was something more of a broad grin as he attempted to look as though he was not doing anything out of the ordinary. At the moment, said mischief maker was leaning casually against a wall beside a suit of armour as a number of teachers and students passed him by on their way to wherever. It was the weekend so most people were wandering out into the grounds therefore looking at anyone oddly if they even seemed to be remaining indoors. James folded his arms and attempted to remain inconspicuous as the corridor became quite empty. He leaned forwards a little to gain an unobstructed view of the corridor then moved quickly and quietly away towards an alcolve where he leaned as closely as he could to the wall.
James pulled his wand from his pocket and glanced around the corridor for a moment before pointing it at the suit of armour he had just passed. He muttered the spell wingardium leviosa causing the suit of armour to suddenly be float into the air and left swinging in a pendulum like motion. He had thought it might not work being a spell more commonly used on smaller objects and, more importantly, there were singular parts to the suit so it seemed more likely that only some parts of it would actually rise into the air. After a moment he cast a non-permanent sticking charm to hold its feet in place connected as it was to a chandelier hanging from the roof. Thankfully, it didn't fall. He regarded it for a moment before casting Augmenti causing a considerable amount of water to form on the ground. Most people would probably be paying attention to the suit and not the ground... It wouldn't cause injuries but it would be highly amusing.
James, satisfied with his work turned to leave hoping that no one would notice his handiwork in the... artwork he had just created. The suit of armour would not fall until someone used magic to get it down and, even then, that would be a fairly easy job. For the moment, it was just a little bit of fun to be had in the corridors really...

Class was over... at least for now. Kylie was heading off to the common room, ready to... well, she wasn't really sure what she was ready to do, but it involved sitting in her favourite spot by the fire and doing something non academic related.
The promise of a warm spot by the fire, especially after having had to walk past an open door, sent Kylie's footsteps quickening. She turned a corner, keeping her steady-yet-fast pace... and almost smacked into a metal foot. It was one of the suits of armor, usually standing so still at the sidelines, dangling in the air. As she looked up to see what was going on, her foot slipped on something, and she grabbed onto the metal leg for support.
Spinning in a slow circle, she must've looked ridiculous, but the suddenness and how quickly her mind had switched from the eagerness of a break from classes to wondering why in the world an empty suit of armor was dangling in the middle of a school corridor had wiped her mind clean of spells. Other students were beginning to watch; not only that, but some were laughing, and some were... well, slipping in the water.
Finally, her mind cleared enough to allow her one spell. Pulling her wand - holly and hippogriff talon - from her side, she swung away from the water and, bracing herself, uttered a single word. "Descendo." With that, both her and the armor came crashing to the floor. Kylie sighed, trying her best to block out the laughter around her, directed at her. But then, she pictured herself, sprawled on the floor, under a suit of armor. It was a bit comical, she had to admit. A tiny smile blossomed on her lips, but not as quickly as the dark pink blush that spread across her cheeks and nose.

James was never really one to wait around near the scene of the crime but he had only time to stash his wand before he heard some students rounding the corner, footsteps echoing off the walls clearly evident that the corridor would soon be slightly more full than it had been previously. Running from the scene was probably more of a giveaway than loitering around. So, naturally, he loitered for a moment in an alcove as a girl passed by. From the sound of the armour moving it was evident that his plan had worked. He joined a passing group of students and laughed a little, joining in as though it was not he who had plotted the... mischief. He also managed to slip in the water as though he too was entirely unaware of the prank.
He recognised the girl as a Gryffindor and, as she brought the armour crashing down he moved to assist her. She was like his family after all, right? That was what everyone said about the houses anyway. Regardless, he thought that helping her a little would divert any blame on him. Then again, he or one of his family members were probably the first people they would blame. They just seemed to walk around with 'troublemaker' tattooed on their forehead. Then again, if James had his way he probably would get a tattoo with those words... He didn't really do anything to prevent his reputation from spreading.
He held out a hand for the girl to help her up and flashed a concerned grin. "Must be Peeves again." He stated in a very good impression of sincerity, "Sometimes I wonder why he hasn't been kicked out of the castle yet."
Other students were laughing a little still and were milling around some still slipping in the water as though they didn't quite want to clean it up. Truth be told James was a little annoyed that his little show of magic had been discovered somewhat prematurely. Still, it had had the desired effect and, more importantly, no one was hurt. It was a dangerous practical joke but he was fairly sure of his skill in charms. Especially given that they were spells he had been working on for a while now...

Kylie moved her arm just enough to check her wand - thankfully undamaged in her plight. Letting out a sigh of relief, she lifted her wand arm slightly to lift the heavy armor off herself, just as a boy who'd slipped and fallen near her came over to help. Her blush deepened as she gratefully took his hand and stood up, letting go as soon as she'd gotten to her feet. Somehow, getting help was a lot more embarrassing than getting up on her own... not that she probably could.
With a groan, she realized the hem of her grey skirt was sopping wet and dripping water. It would take forever to dry off without a spell, but she couldn't remember the hot air charm. Maybe even the drought charm would work, but she couldn't remember that, either. "Um..." She searched her vacant mind for something to say. "Thanks." Very intelligent response. Without looking at the face of her rescuer, she raised an eyebrow and searched the hall for the poltergeist. Of course, the infamous prankster was nowhere to be seen. He probably ditched the scene as soon as he set it up.

"Oh, he's probably gone by now. You know, keep away from the scene of the crime and all that." He responded seeing her check the rest of the hallway.
It might seem suspicious that he was so ready to place blame on the poltergeist but he wasn't about to seem as though he was relishing in the fact that she had fallen over and, more importantly, that he had actually succeeded in something. It wasn't often that James could call himself a success and his mind was better applied to practical applications of spells as opposed to memorising them and making a feather float in the air. Then a cushion. Then another small object. Sure, he understood that they would need to build up to the larger objects but it was far more fun to be thrown in the deep end as it were, and forced to figure it out from there. Therefore, his practical jokes were more like practical lessons in charms or whatever spell he happened to be using.
"You alright?" He questioned gesturing to her clothes which, like his own, were dripping wet. He hadn't really thought that a Gryffindor would wind up the butt of his joke as it were. He would have rathered that it was a Slytherin... He could at least enjoy that quite a bit more. Malfoy would have been funnier but then, he wanted to stay in school and without a lifetime of detentions. Picking a fight with a teacher's son was not the best of ideas. He usually tried to be somewhat civil to young Scorpius.

"Probably..." She mumbled, finally looking up at the boy. She recognized him immediately as "one of the Potters", and a member of the Quidditch team as well. Briefly she wondered if it was a good or bad thing that she not only recognized, but knew this boy as well. Probably better... no, worse, since I'll be seeing him at practices. And games. And maybe in the common room, too... Kylie gave herself a mental kick-to-the-shin, but kept a smile on her face. She must've looked crazy, with her dripping skirt, patches of water on her blouse, mussed-up hair, and her constant switching from an embarrassed sort of half-smile to a distressed glance to the floor.
"Ah, I'm..." Kylie looked down and back up at James's motion. "I'm fine, thanks. And, er, you're okay too... right?" She laughed a little, despite herself. She shot a glance at the suit of armor, still lying on the ground, wondering if she should move it back. It seemed to be attracting a lot of attention, and the teachers would be arriving in no time flat. "I was just headed to the common room..." She motioned in the direction she was headed with her thumb, and shot a somewhat-apologetic glance at the boy, though she didn't have any reason to apologize. I should get going then. Sorry for getting in your way. She finished the sentence in her head. What was with all her apologizing? Sheesh.
ooc: sorry it came so late. >.<

"I'm fine, a bit of water never hurt anyone and it does wonders to keep one focused on things." James responded. He shook his head a little to see if there was any water in his hair. There were a few droplets but not enough to flatten and destroy his 'look'. No, he wasn't that vain but it helped to try to disassociate oneself from the events that had just passed so as to remain somewhat inconspicuous. Unfortunately, the very fact that he had helped the other Gryffindor was drawing attention to the two of them and, particularly, him. He had a reputation after all and not necessarily a good one depending on the point of view people took.
"Oh hey, that's where I was going too, mind if I join you?" He replied cheerily in response to her statement.
Any excuse to leave the scene of the crime as quickly as possible. He didn't want to remain standing beside the suit of armour too long attracting attention. Eventually someone would put two and two together. He didn't want to be in the corridor when a teacher decided to wander past. It was probably far more likely that they would blame him for simply being there in the hopes that they happened to get it right. Which they would. He supposed that, by now, most of them had seen every trick in the book and knew precisely which kids were capable of what feats and therefore could merely pick whom performed the magic based on their skill or, in James' case, lack thereof.
OOC: Sorry for the really late reply...

"Be my guest." Kylie smiled. She continued on her way, careful to avoid the puddle of water. Really, her mind was nagging her to help clean up the mess so that people wouldn't meet the same fate as her, but even more than that she wanted to get back and find a spell to dry off her clothes, since she wasn't feeling up to changing. Thinking about it, she thought she remembered the incantation for the charm that might help, but if it wasn't the right one, she would probably end up setting her skirt on fire or something even worse than that.
"So," she paused for a moment, quickly searching her mind for his name again, "James... which classes are you taking this year?" She hoped to get a conversation going, to prevent any awkward silences. He seemed to be far better than she was at that, so maybe her pitiful attempts would pull through.

James looked back at the puddle of water for a moment considering clearing it up but then deciding that it was probably better to leave it. Better for someone else to clear up Peeves' mess. "Thanks!"
He was about to ask her something when she beat him to the punch even knowing his name. His eyes widened a little as he attempted to rack his brain for her name. Had they introduced themselves yet? Oh. Right. Still, he should probably know her name considering that she was in the same house as he was. "Oh, you know, the interesting ones. All the basic ones with Ancient Runes, Arithmancy and Care of Magical Creatures. Hey, look, this might be rude seeing as you know my name... But might I ask what yours is?" He asked attempting to sound casual.
He glanced around the corridor for a moment and ducked towards the wall in an attempt to remain hidden from the view of a teacher who was walking in the opposite direction. Thankfully, they seemed somewhat distracted that they didn't notice his strange behaviour. He only hoped that others would have the same story...

It hadn't occurred to her before that he might not know her name. But then again, it wasn't really surprising since she didn't come from a known wizarding family, let alone famous or powerful. "Kylie. And it's fine." She kept walking, until she turned and saw James veer to the right, towards the wall. What is he...? She shot him what she hoped was a perfunctory glance and kept walking, but slowing down her pace so that he would know she wasn't ditching him. He didn't seem like he wanted to be seen.
ooc: sorry i didn't give you much to work with!

James stood with his back against the wall for a moment longer until the teacher had passed by then he jogged a little to catch up to Kylie, as he had now discovered her name to be. He slapped his head in realisation and annoyance then looked at her. "Oh, Kylie, of course, I am so daft, you're on the Quidditch team. Playing chaser with my brother." He looked a little pleased with the connection he had made.
"You know, I always thought that chaser was probably one of the more difficult positions to play. I mean, beaters just hit things at people but the chaser has to maintain the score, not to mention take penalties and pay close attention to what's going on besides." He had always thought it was a little silly to have the snitch being 150 points considering all the effort the chasers put into actually scoring. It seemed like it was something of a tactical rule error. Then again, that was part of the fun the fact that one could be winning for the entire game and then lose at the last moment.
"I'm sorry Kylie. It was like some nargles had stolen my mind away." Here he was yabbering on about seemingly nothing and had asked her nothing about herself. Not really, he hadn't given her much of a chance to speak always having to fill the silence with his own words. In all honesty, his boggart turned into silence and within that silence was so many things...
ooc: that's fine, I probably didn't give you enough to work with either ): *pledges to try harder*
