So many times he had gone into the forest and so many times he had returned. Usually in the tow of the Groundskeeper or another such member of staff but nothing had ever happened. He doubted there was anything really all that dangerous in there for the tales the adults told rarely involved anything remotely dangerous in the Forbidden Forest. Well, except the spiders. And maybe the centaurs. Well, there might have been cases of werewolves sighted and, yes, a certain Dark Wizard had hidden there once but his parents had been fine and so had his aunts and uncles so clearly it wasn't as dangerous as people seemed to think. He looked across the Black Lake as the sun was setting and considered hiding out in the grounds until he had the option. He picked up a couple of rocks and began skipping them across the lake in a bored fashion attempting to remain unnoticed by the students around him. Unfortunately, by acting like a normal person and not an insane one he immediately drew attention and after a few moments there were about three other students having something of a competition with him as to who can skip their stones the furthest. Suffice to say, the muggleborns happened to perform the best usually managing to skip their stones about seven spots whilst James only managed about five.
Well, it seemed that they were a little distracted but most of them just thought it was hilarious that he couldn't manage to beat them at the silly rock throwing sport. Most of them were people from Gryffindor or people he knew vaguely but there were a couple of students from other houses. It became something of a game for the students all laughing and having fun that James forgot all about his plot to make it into the forest. Too bad it wasn't as popular as Quidditch because he was certain that he could make a lot of money out of this if he could only figure out a way to make it more extreme. Perhaps if the rocks had to hit people it would become more extreme... Well, that's how a beater was supposed to think anyway...

Louis was having a normal day, as normal as he could go through the day, there was no James plotting something of which could get him into more trouble – not that he would mind getting into trouble, but seeing he was a prefect, Louis had to try to keep his nose clean and of course, there was no Rose trying to outdo him in every way, there was basically nothing that could spoil his mood. That was what Louis had thought as he was reading quietly in the corner of the library without any disturbance, trying to finish his Herbology homework which was due next week as well as scribbling a few points for future reference. It was a normal day, which was until he found a small error made by the newly appointed librarian on the book labels and decided to point it out. Let’s just say that he wasn’t at all pleased and ended up throwing Louis out of the library as well as banning him from entering the place for a week as Louis stared at him in horror. Knowing full well that he shouldn’t argue any further, Louis had no choice but to stalk away from the place, completely annoyed for being thrown out and not being able to finish his homework. Alas, maybe he could get James to borrow the book for him later.
James. Suddenly Louis remembered that he hadn’t seen the sight of his cousins all day. Though he had enjoyed the quiet day without the likes of James Potter, he could help but wonder what could have happened to the boy. Curious, Louis threw his gaze outside the high windows as he walked passed, half expecting to see James emerging from the forbidden forest dragged by someone older. But, that was not the case; the place looked awfully quiet, as quiet as a forest should be. Bored, Louis continued to walk, letting his feet take the lead and before he knew it, he was outside of the castle. It wasn’t a bad day to be out at all. So, instead of walking back into the huge castle, Louis decided to continue on his path, though, as it turned out, it was a bad idea when he realized he was walking straight towards the Black Lake and couldn’t help but catching the sight of his cousin; James Potter. Still, Louis knew it was too late to turn back and if he did, he could only guess what James would do to him later. “Are you attempting to kill the Giant Squid?” Louis said as he got close to where James was.
ooc; finally! and it's bad... sorry...

James turned away from the Black Lake for a moment spotting his dear cousin Louis wandering over to him almost hesitating as he spotted him there throwing rocks into the Black Lake. James pulled a face but replaced it with a manic smile as Louis decided to approach. James had a few things he was certain he could have done to make Louis' life a little difficult if he had turned away and walked back into the castle. Louis was probably James' only cousin who actually managed to put up with his antics. "The damn squid has stolen my lunch on numerous occasions. Damn Squid!"
As if in response a sudden wave of water made its way towards the bank and washed over his shoes and the hem on his robes. The waves slowly lapped back to their former levels leaving James annoyed, a little cold and even more aware that he wanted to get that squid one day in the corridors of Hogwarts Castle. He didn't want it to die but if he managed to flood the corridor and then send the squid in there it would certainly be an amazing feat of magic. "First, I would have to learn to speak squid." James declared and then turned to face Louis.
The crowd that had gathered was happily skipping rocks still and seemed thoroughly preoccupied with the task. James, however, had his attention drawn once again to the forest. He didn't want to get Louis into trouble but there was no way he would be able to go in there now without Louis giving him a bit of trouble. He would still have to wait until sundown... "Louis! Have you been avoiding me. I think Dominique has. Actually, whenever I see any of them they just seem to run away." He looked thoughtfully skywards and then shook his head. No good thinking like that. He would begin seeing conspiracies everywhere if he did that. Not that he didn't already.

“It wasn’t his fault if you choose to eat out at the river bank instead of the Great Hall,” Louis said simply. The only way he knew to talk to James, straightforward without any hesitation as when it came to James, talking too much wouldn’t get you anywhere. There were times that Louis even went as far as suspecting that James probably had one of those rare disease where he could not stay still, he was sure the muggles have a term for it, but he couldn’t quite recall what it was. Still, it was no something he would ever mention to James. It was enough dealing with his day to day dramatic self without having an excuse as to why he was behaving that way, it was another if he had an excuse. Right, attention span issues. Louis shook his head, part of him was amused, and the other was a little concerned about James. “Weren’t you trying to learn Mermish?” He asked thoughtfully, vaguely remembering James declaring that he would be learning Mermish, or perhaps that was Albus, Louis tend to mix things up when it came to the two brothers even when they were polar opposites of each other.
James’ unexpected question threw Louis off slightly as he was just watching James’ attention was drawn by the forest. Maybe underestimating his cousin was a bad idea, it seemed that James was aware that Louis was indeed avoiding. It just that, it wasn’t like Louis was going to admit the truth. Knowing James, there are a number of thing he could and would do if he ever learned that Louis was one of those people who had been keeping tabs on their encounter with James as well as had been trying to keep it to a minimum. “Avoiding you?” Louis asked, his eyebrows furrowed together, making him look as if he had no idea what James was talking about. “What would I ever do that?” He added, still looking as if he was lost, it was probably a bad idea to do so as asking James to speculate had never been a good thing in the past. At least it was better than admitting to James’ accusation. “Maybe they were just in a hurry,” Louis continued, trying to making excuses for his other cousins. Though, he was sure that they were, too, had been trying to avoid James. All for their very own reasons.

James kept his face averted from Louis as he replied to the speculations James had had. He sighed and then planted a smile on his face before turning towards Louis again. "Yeah probably, I know that everyone has all their work to do and things. I mean, most people actually care a little more about their grades I suppose," He responded after a short moment, "Yes, I also think Mermish would be a useful language to learn. Few do so I'd be guaranteed a job somewhere." It was pretty much true the fact that if one happened to know Mermish, squid or any other language they would be guaranteed a job within the ministry but James had better ideas for the languages he planned to learn. He just so happened to have decided that all the money was in traveling minstrels.
He grinned and began to wander in the direction of the forest. "You know, it'd be worth it to learn less common languages. But you probably have a knack for that. What with Auntie Fleur knowing French..." He had never really thought about it but Louis must have known French. Or parts of it anyway. He thought he might as well continue with his plan. He probably wouldn't go that far into the forest but it was always nice to wander in there. He'd probably be found out eventually but he didn't particularly mind getting a couple of detentions. Sometimes he had the opportunity to learn even more things to get up to. It ever he had to do anything for the Caretaker or Potions he seemed to understand a little more about what feats of magic he could perform in order to earn himself another detention. He wore his list of detentions like it was a badge of honour. Giving him more just happened to make him more inclined to act up.
ooc: sorry >.< it's not that great... and it's kinda short...

Louis couldn’t help but felt slightly relieved when James wasn’t looking straight at him as he lied. It would have been horrible if James had as Louis could never come up with an excuse fast enough to change James’ conviction if he believed that he was right or if he believes that he had been wronged in one way or another. Of course, he was further thankful when James seemed to take his excuse calmly and changed the subject to the idea of learning another language. “Yes, I’m sure Mermish would be highly useful,” Louis said sarcastically. He wasn’t the kind that would mock on someone’s desire to learn, but when it came to James, well, James was James. “I’m sure it’d be useful if you live in a cave full of merpeople,” He added just as sarcastic as his first statement was. The truth was; Louis was far more skeptical about James’ determination than the usage of the language itself. He was sure that any additional knowledge would be useful; it was just that, he was almost certain that James would probably drop off the idea of wanting to learn the language next week and decided that he wanted to pursue another avenue instead. But, telling that to James’ face...
French. Louis snorted, wanting to laugh. Sure, his entire family could speak the language and even his father had learned it. However, it was not something of which he would advertise throughout the school. Actually, Louis had even promised himself not to speak a word in French when he happened to be in school and he had kept his promise by speaking only in English. There was nothing wrong about the language, but speaking in it in a population of people who barely understood a word of it, well, it could be considered as rude. “Tell me you’re not thinking about going into the forest,” Louis said quickly, as if he could read James’ mind like an open book. Then again, it was never really had hard to read James, not when a promise of an adventure was laid open in front of him. The Forbidden Forest, it seemed like it had a hold on James, more than Louis liked to admit. Great, more trouble for him. Sometimes he wondered if the Headmistress had made him a prefect just to keep an eye on James.
ooc; i really don't speak french lol...
